Thing 8

The more I learn the more I know I don't know. I just set up a Bloglines Account but find I am at a loss as to what RSS feeds I want to follow. The truth of the matter is that I don't use the internet to keep me informed. I use it when I am looking for a particular piece of information and if I have exhausted our databases. The more I work with this, the older I feel. But, I will keep at this. I've been away from it for over a month so maybe another day or so and something will click. Something about an old dog and tricks.

I received a digital camera for Christmas last year but haven't really appreciated it's potential before now. I think the fact that I have a grandchild now might have something to do with my sudden interest. Flickr seems to have incredible potential. I do have concerns about uploading pictures of people, though. So far I'm sticking with the ocean. See if this link works: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marcelyn.

I have tried to explore mashups but I still don't quite understand. It appears that they allow further manipulation of pictures and/or data but how, I am not sure. The language is definitely foreign. I think I am going to move on and hope that something kicks in just by exposure.

For instance, it appears to me the Flickr Montager is what allows the grouping of pictures on our Library websites but I am not sure and not sure how to check to see how it is done. I think I will try to upload more pictures on my site and see if I can use Montager to group them somehow. This could take a while.

OK. So I have been trying to explore Flickr for a few days now. I have taken the tour but I realize that I am going to have to create an account in order to really see what it can do. My brain is definitely not wired for this kind of exploring.

Well now, all I had to do was mosey on down the page and take the Flickr Tutorials. I now have a URL and I have uploaded one picture!

This was the easiest one yet. I'm linked! I just may get the hang of this yet.

Well, maybe not. I just looked at this and it appears that it was posted at 7:something a.m. but my computer says it is 10:33 a.m. A timewarp no doubt.

Thing 3

OK. So I set up the blog by mistake before I got to Thing 3. BUT then I went on vacation and forgot how to even get into 23 Things so I practically had to start over. This is ok. I learn best by making mistakes. So this isn't my first post, it is my third. Maybe by the 23rd I will know what I am doing.

Thing #2

So far I am confused. I feel as though I am missing the instruction book. Anyway, using new technology to my advantage is the hardest of the 7 1/2 items. Beginning with the end in mind is usually the easiest but not with this. However, I do have confidence in myself so I know I can get through this somehow. Oh, yeah, playing is hard also.

It took me way too long to get to this. And Google is launching WAVE today. I feel like I am already at sea.
